Energetics:

This stone holds strongly grounding and earthy energies. Like most varieties of jasper - you can rely on them to keep you grounded and connected to mother earth. This jasper inspires us to remember our oneness with Gaia and the animal and plant kingdoms within her, providing a reassuring and motherly reminder of our belonging to the family of earth. It is with this remembering that we can find stability and calmness in the present moment. All jasper's can be useful tools for mindfulness and can help bring tranquility during times of stress and uncertainty.

Bird's Eye jasper encourages clarity and grounded thinking - helping to lessen the effects of anxious thoughts. It is helpful to reveal the bigger picture of a situation or experience - making it easier to gain insight during times that at first glace appear chaotic and confusing. This stone also holds a gentle creative energy which can be useful to stimulate the imagination and assist with the transformation of ideas into action.

This iron rich jasper connects strongly with the root and earth chakras. During ancient times - iron rich gemstones were often associated with fertility, reproductive and digestive function, vitality and strengthening the body.

It is also a wonderful companion during shamanic journeying and energetic healing - particularly for conditions of the lower chakras. For shamanic use - this jasper helps improve dream recall and provides protection for astral journeying.

Sustaining and supportive during times of stress, this stone brings tranquility and contentment.

How To Use:

For Stressful times - Carry a Bird's Eye jasper in your pocket, rub the stone in between your fingers while you're feeling anxious. If you're feeling sensory overwhelm - find a quiet space to sit, take out your stone and take time to focus on the colours, details, patterns and textures in your stone. Find your favourite pattern or spot on the stone - why do you like that part? how does the stone feel in your hand? Take time to explore your crystal. When you are feeling more relaxed, take a moment of gratitude - think of 3 things you are grateful for - then continue on with your day.

For Dreaming - Before bedtime, do a meditation of your choice or listen to some relaxing music while holding your Bird's Eye Jasper. Following your meditation - Set the intention to receive messages through your dreams, then place your crystal under your pillow (inside your pillow slip works well if you toss and turn a lot). Keep a journal and pen beside your bed. When you wake - write down what you remember from the night - this may be dreams, imagery, simple colours, sensations or feelings.

Dream recall is different for everybody - you may not necessarily always experience vivid visual memories. You may only remember sensations or maybe emotional feelings. This can also take some time and your recall will develop and change over time - making a routine to do your dream recall a few times a week can help you get the most out of the practice.

Shamanic Drumming - you can incorporate your Bird's Eye Jasper into your shamanic practices. One way to include this stone is in a drumming ritual, group or solo. Simply hold your stone in your palm while practicing rhythmic drumming, close your eyes and focus on the repetitive beat of the drum. 

Depending on what style of drum your are using - it may be difficult to hold the stone while playing. You can also sit your jasper at your Root Chakra or underneath the drum.

Chakra/Energy Healing - place your crystal on the area of your body that you are wanting to focus on. This stone resonates well with the lower Chakras - namely the Earth, Root and Sacral chakras. For balancing the Root Chakra - Lay down in a comfortable space, then place your stone on your lower abdomen (approximately in line with the base of your spine). You can have some gentle music or nature sounds playing - to help you relax, if you feel called to do so. Take a deep breath in (count of 4), Hold (count of 4), Breathe out (count of 4) - repeat this breathing technique a minimum of 4 times. Continue with your slow, rhythmic breathing - then start to draw your attention to the stone on your body. Take some time here to focus on the sensations, what do you feel?

You can also include visualisation into this practice if you would like - for the root chakra - you can begin to imagine a red glowing light or a red flower blossoming from chakra or the stone that sits on your body.

When you feel ready to come back into your space, do the same 4 count breath-work pattern you began with.

*during winter - its always a good idea to have a blanket to ensure that you don't get too cold during your practice - as this can make it difficult to stay present.



Care:

Jaspers are very earthly energetic stones are benefit from connection to earth. You can place your jasper on the bare earth over night in the moon to recharge. For everyday cleansing - running water, incense or sage smoke and sunlight are great options. Natural running waterways hold a particularly strong energy and can be a real energetic treat - in terms of charging your stone (if you have one nearby).

In cases where you've had your stone during a significantly stressful event - you can bury it in the earth over night (near the base of a tree is wonderful) for a deeper energetic reset.
